Preheat your oven to 350° F (175°C) and spray your mini muffin pan with cooking spray.
In a bowl, combine the bananas, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup (or sugar).
1 cup ripe mashed bananas, 1/4 cup melted butter, 1 each large egg, 2 tsp vanilla extract, ⅓ cup maple syrup or granulated sugar
In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 tsp baking powder, ¼ tsp baking soda, ¼ tsp salt
Gradually, add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Fill each muffin cup about ¾ full with batter.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
Cool the muffins for about 5 minutes before enjoying.
